HRT causing ovarian/breast cysts?

Been on HRT (oestrogel and Utrogestan days 14-26) for six months and it has helped me in so many ways, especially with the uncontrollable rage.

I was getting breast cysts before that but seem to be getting more, and now I have a suspected ovarian cyst due to niggling pains, frequent urination and ovulation pain.

I’m waiting for a scan ordered by my GP but it’s not until the end of July. The last four/five days (around ovulation) I’ve been constantly bloated and in pain with a very swollen uncomfortable tummy. The pain is low down, around ovaries and womb and constant. It hurts to wee (not in a UTI way - sort of in my tummy) and poo. I’m pretty sure I’ve got ovarian cyst(s), possibly some endometriosis. It’s been going on low level for ages but this month is worse.

My question is: is the HRT causing this, and if so, should I stop? The GP has suggested I could try the pill instead (I am pushing for Yasmin if I do). I know the pill might sort out the cysts because I wouldn’t be ovulating. But would it manage my peri symptoms as well? I’m only 40.

I’m scared of stopping HRT because of the rage and also worried about the pill affecting my sex drive, which is currently good! Last time I was on the pill it makes me feel sick and bloated too.

Is there any solution?
TIA

Hi! It's probably unlikely that HRT at your age is causing these, as you are just topping up your own levels and you're very young.

There are 2 types of Pill that are recommended for women your age as the estrogen is natural as in most HRT now. One is Qlaira and I forget the other but think it starts wit Z!
Ask your GP about them.

The other pill @JinglingHellsBells mentioned is Zoely.
It's good you're getting a scan. Those symptoms should be properly investigated.
I don't really have any answers OP but I used to have a lot of breast cysts but haven't had any since starting HRT (Mirena plus estrogen patches) 6 months ago.
