Cyclical HRT

I take progesterone on the last 2 weeks of my cycle (as I still had regular periods when I started HRT) I use a patch throughout, and the progesterone tablets 2 weeks of every 4. Does anyone know if it's ok to delay taking the progesterone by 2 weeks if it clashes with an event (Glastonbury!). This is for 2 reasons - one that it might delay my bleed and two just to not have the faff of taking tablets every night (and forgetting!). Any advice or thoughts most welcome Smile

Having taken the menstrual delaying meds before, I would expect if you delay starting progesterone you risk your natural bleed coming at its intended time, or at some other random unexpected time, and it could be a pain to resync with the Utrogestan.

Also I think delaying period works by continuing to take the progesterone longer ie in your case taking it for 4 weeks instead of 2. I have no idea if this is safe but again there’s still a possibility of breakthrough bleed.

Can you get an econsult or gp appt and ask?

Thanks Hairy! I did ask the question in a review with a nurse practitioner last week but she wasn't sure about it. I think I'll just plough on as usual and try not to forget Smile

Yes, it 's fine to delay it by 2 weeks. But if you are still having a natural period, it may come anyway. Some women are on this longer 5-6 week cycle anyway but that's through private consultants who monitor it all.

The other option is to take ONE capsule (so making the regime continuous) daily and stop it when you are back and a bleed should follow at some point.
