Good morning
I am new on here, just wanted a bit of advice
I am approaching 50 and I am achy, hot flushes are now more frequent and instead of just at night I am having them during the day too.
I have put on a lot of weight around my middle and went to see the Dr yesterday
She prescribed me evorel 50 and progesterone tablets.
I am also on desogestrel pop pill, and havnt had a period in 14 months.
I am quite scared about taking hrt and have heard of lots of side effects
Is there anybody out there in the same boat as me???

Try not to worry. Everyone is different and rally, you just have to give it a go.

If you feel terrible now, what's to lose?

I've used it for years and had no side effects at all.

I went onto Evorel 50 and a new Mirena (old one was definitely expired) for the progesterone a couple of months ago. It has been transformational for me.

I hadn't had hot flushes but had terrible sleep problems and anxiety. Last year I was put on Mirtazepeine, which I wasn't keen on but was desperate to get some sleep.

A couple of months in with the patches and I feel so much better. I hadn't realised how "foggy" I had got and I just feel more "well", more energy (though that might also be down to the reduction in sugar due to low carbing).

I don't know if my expanding waist in the last year has been down to meno or to Mirtazepeine, but I am losing it steadily and fairly easily by low carbing.

I can't think of any side effects I have noticed. Honestly, give it a go.

Hi OP. I started on Evorel 50 sequi (so same thing but progesterone in the patches for half the month). It didn’t cure all my problems, but I haven’t had any side effects with it at all. I’m now on 75 with separate progesterone tablets and no side effects on that either. I’m on the mini pill too.

I'm 51 and on my 5th month of Evorel Sequi 50mg patches for menopause symptoms. It's 2 weeks of estrogen only then 2 weeks with progesterone too. My hot flushes have pretty much gone away, I'm far less irritable and the murderous rages are a thing of the past. Thank goodness, I thought I was going mad. Weight has also slowly started to shift, I've lost a few pounds of the substantial amount I have to lose without really trying.

I'm glad I tried it, I was a bit nervous but I've also just been called to my first post-50 mammogram so that's reassuring. The emotional stability (I already took an antidepressant and a mood stabiliser for my long term depression) is the best part of it.

@comfortablyfrumpy did you experience any side effects with the mirena ? I've just had one fitted for progesterone and feel a bit ropey ( cramps, headachy etc )

Thanks

No, no side effects. I had one previously (which had run out).
I hope you are feeling better soon.
