OK embarrassing topic, but I am not a troll. I went through early menopause and have been on HRT (Evorel 100 & Ultrogestan) for over a year. Have has Oestrogen levels checked and they are OK. The problem is vaginally dryness. What do I do?. I have not had sex for years. I have met a guy I could see myself being in a relationship with, but what do I do about sex. Dry does not even cover it. Advice please TIA.

Your GP should be able to prescribe a pessaries (I use viginarux -sorry, not sure of sp!).

I also find the Yes range really good - they do a vaginal moisturiser and oil and water based lube - personally I find the water one best.

the whole lube thing can be a bit awkward to begin with, but you soon get over it for the benefits! Or you could pop some in before you start.

I have a very sensitive vulva/ vagina, and find that they don’t irritate me at all.

hope that helps!

You could ask for Oestrogen vaginal cream or pessaries from your GP. They are used to ease vaginal symptoms of peri or menopause such as vaginal dryness, burning or itching. I use pessaries and the cream for outside as I am quite bad. You may not need to use both. You could start off with pessaries and see how you get on. I use Imvaggis pessaries and Ovestin cream for my vulva. It is also a good idea to also use something like yes as suggested. I actually use Acti Gel and find it very good to use in between my prescribed Oestrogen gel and pessaries. Also best to use pessaries at bedtime as standing after inserting it can make a bit of a mess. It's also not and should not be an embarrassing topic.

Can I ask are these pessaries and cream in addition to patches/gel/tablet HRT?

I've just started the patches, on my second week and I appreciate it won't work that quick but the itching is getting worse I think.

SophiaLarsen · 08/06/2022 13:46

Yes they would be in addition to the patches.

Nicolarer · 10/06/2022 14:41

Thank you. I did not realise you could use the cream.or pessaries as well as the patches.

OP I'm using Everol Conti patches and Ovestin cream. The itching and dryness are driving me mad!
I've asked for a review of my HRT and spoke to a GP today. He's going to refer me to a consultant. It's the only symptom really that has not been taken care of by the medication.
I find it embarrassing too but I really need to get it sorted. Thank you for posting though as I can see from the responses that there are other things which could help.
