HRT - Femoston

I have been taking the HRT femoston for 2 months (2 weeks for oestrogen only then 2 weeks of progesterone cycle). I am 43 and haven’t had a period in 16 months.
I have noticed that my mood is horrific during the 2nd stage of the cycle - as bad as it was before starting HRT. Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you change HRT? Thanks

If you haven't had a period in 16 months you are classed as post menopausal. Therefore a conti regime would usually be recommended.

The progesterone in femeston is one which is generally tolerated by many women ( begins with d I think?)

If you are not tolerating this progesterone, perhaps look at asking for separate oestrogen and progesterone which is body identical ( utrogestan) ? Or a conti patch ( norethistone is the progesterone in that ).

You have a choice of patch, gel, tablet or spray for oestrogen. It's the progesterone which many don't get on with.

Also, bear in mind that progesterone can be taken cyclically if you can't tolerate daily ( even if Post menopausal) . Think it's 12 days of the month and there are different progesterone options available.

Have a read of the BMS site. It's very informative on Hrt options. Smile
