Perimenopause

I'm 48. Been in peri for a good few years now. My periods are getting closer together (26 day cycle) and are v heavy with large clots (sorry tmi.)
My PMT symptoms seem to be lasting most of the month now - teary, anxious, sinus problems, breast pain, restless legs, headaches. As well as peri symptoms, insomnia, hot flushes, feels like I have a constant uti, sluggish digestive system, reflux, dry skin, hair, and itchiness. Also horrendous weight gain.

I did a POAS menopause test which was positive.

I've had a blood clot previously and strong fam history of breast cancer so any hormonal treatment is out.

Does anyone have any suggestions on anything that works apart from HRT? My current trouble is smelling cigarette smoke, all non smokers at home so I think it's my sinuses. My GP has given me citalopram and propranolol to help with the anxiety.

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at starpowa.com. I was sceptical but as I get migraines every month, which I have had for years but they were getting worse. GP a waste of time. So I tried the hormone balance & not had a migraine since. Cannot vouch for the Meno balance one but the reviews are good.

Have you considered a Mirena coil for your periods ? I got anaemic when mine got heavier and closer together. It also helped my PMT.
For breast pain I’d get a good quality Evening Primrose Oil. I use Efamol and it works for me.
For restless legs drink tonic water, and keep them cool at night. Also make sure you are exercising.

I think I've been in perimenopause for a year or so and up til now my periods have been heavier, but my cycle has been the same (roughly 35 days).

This month my normal period ended 10 days ago. Then yesterday and today, it reappeared, with large blood clots! Luckily I've been off work but I've no idea how I'll manage if it happens unexpectedly at work, as I need to sprint to the loo to change pads. About 3 within the hour. Apologies for being graphic 🙈. This seems to be happening about 3 times per day with little bleeding in between.

Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experience?

TIA x

Anything different should be reported. I’d think about a `mirena coil.

Yes! You can balance 100% your hormones naturally - and mitigate your symptoms. It sounds like your first step would be to achieve a well functioning digestive system, this is a great start to help hormone balance, how your hormones function, a first step to weight loss and also a healthy digestive system is just really good for you. Hormone balancing foods are game changers too, it's what i've been doing to treat perimenopause and successfully too. I suddenly had a whole host of symptoms that were just awful, life was tough for a while and now I feel back to myself again. Another major factor is how you deal with stress as this really affects hormones too as the stress hormone literally steals sex hormones unnecessarily. Our body's favor the stress hormone as we need it to survive causing all sorts of problems like anxiety due to low progesterone.
