Really heavy bleeding

Up until last weekend my previous period started normally on 27 April but then lasted a bit longer than usual - 9 days. So finished on 5th May. I then started spotting brown gunk 9 days later and then after a couple of days spotting I started to bleed like a normal period. I'm 50 next month so no surprises really and I've had a 2 period month before sometime last year. However, this past 48 hours I've been bleeding really heavily. I've never in my life bled this heavily before. I think I've got through 6 - maybe 7 changes of underwear today. Every hour or so had to change because I'd leaked everywhere. Bright red blood. I feel ok, not faint or light headed but I am worried that I shouldn't be bleeding this heavily. Is this normal? Feels like I'm haemorrhaging. Dread to think what pool of mess I'll wake up to in the morning.

I think you need medical attention
111 at a minimum

I had very heavy bleeding for a couple of years and ended up anaemia. Left it quite a long time to
seek help and was told off by gp Blush
As you are flooding so much worth calling 111 to get advice (I needed scans etc.)
It all settled eventually but was horrible at time. Definitely get some help with it and don't just leave itFlowers

I used to have heavy periods and the advice was, if you need to change every hour, seek medical advice. Please call the NHS helpline.

All my aunts and now my mum complained of same thing, there is days on end she can't leave her house, all were told it was part of the menapause and giving tablets to reduce the bleeding , I would just check if with gp x
