High FSH - cause of bad water retention??

I've had some bloods done recently due to very irregular periods, weight gain etc as I'm only early 40s.

They have come back as high FSH (>55)!

This was a bit of a shock to be honest. I have a follow up call with the GP in a couple of weeks time (earliest I could get).

I'm wondering if this is the cause of my increasingly bad water retention?! I've noticed my whole body, face, hands and feet increasingly puffy over the last few months (worse in the days leading up to my period, but bad anyway!).

Has anyone had experience of this? Would HRT help?!

I don't know about fsh but I thought water retention was something to do with the level of oestrogen
