Hi all, I’m in perimenopause, still having periods. I have various symptoms including v heavy periods, bad brain fog, aches & pains. Doc has given me a prescription for Femoston Conti. I’m reading that this is for post menopausal women. I don’t know whether to start it. Anyone on this one? Thanks for any help you can give

Hi! Only just started HRT myself. I am 44 and was given Everol 50 (awesome) and utrogestan (not started this week). Not heard of the one you are on so I looked it up and I think you are right. Perhaps go back to the surgery and ask for different doc? Or speak to your pharmacist?

Yes femoston conti is for 1year post bleeds or over 54 years. You need cyclical progesterone if not in these groups.

It's quite confusing sometimes on the computer to prescribe these but I'd double check with the pharmacist.

Thanks! I’m 48. Periods not stopped, if anything they’re heavier than ever. My GP isn’t great to be honest, he’s there on his own. I emailed him my concerns and he said

“there is no specific medication for perimenopausal, they are all the same so it can be used”

Im feeling so anxious now. Don’t know what to do.

appreciate any advice , thanks

I'd see a different GP. you need sequential combined...that is evorel sequi not evorel conti.

That is the one my sister is on and her periods stopped for over a year so usually given to women who are in menopause and not peri like you. I started hrt 3mths ago in peri like you and on gel daily and progesterone 14 days on and off, I would speak to another doctor or a wellwoman clinic before you start. My doc would not give me hrt asked years ago and said I was too young in mid 40;s, now 53 went to him and still no so had to go to a wellwoman clinic and they were great and after a few visits getting bloods done I insisted on hrt so got it. Feel such a difference after only 3mths and brain fog gone and mood improving..Wish had been on it years ago..You will get it sorted and well done for noticing the old git does not know what he is talking about.

I am on femoston 1/10 which means I have a bleed. Probably the one you should be on rather than conti.

QueenMabby · 24/05/2022 18:11

Interestingly my GP said that I could move from cyclical to continuous progesterone after 12 months of being on hrt regardless of my cycle. Have just moved over. I'm 46 and still have regular cycles.

Queen, not a good move from your GP I'm afraid.
What will happen now is that you will likely experience erratic bleeding on a Conti regime.

Best get on sequi I would.
