First try of HRT

Hello All,

I've been reading the threads, gaining valuable advice and information, thank you!

I am 44 and have just been given my first prescription for HRT. I have been given gel (OEstrodose - estradiol) and Utrogestan.

So, I've used my first 2 pumps of gel l today and need to wait a few weeks to start the Utrogestan, as I'm on day2 of my period.

I have brain fog, I am absolutely shattered all the time and everything aches. I am hoping so much that this treatment has a positive effect.

Do you tend to use the gel in the morning or evening (doctor said either)? I'm to use the Utrogestan at night. Is the gel better than a patch? I've had skin irritation before from patches (medical monitors, not HRT). Thanks

I need some advice please if possible! I received my first dose of hrt today - oestrogel and utrogestan capsules. I haven’t had a period since March but the label says to take 2 on the 15th day of cycle. That is 3 weeks away . Could I start just taking one capsule on the 1st day does anyone know? Sorry im so impatient?!

I use the gel at night before I go to bed. I went for the gel as I have sensitive skin and plasters even irritate my skin. You can decide for yourself when is more convenient to apply it.

I use gel in the morning but my doc said you can use either way. She also said that you can split it half morning and half evening . She only pointed out that whatever you choose it has to be consistent .

Can I ask another question? Can I start using the oestrogel on its own until the 1st June ?

Yes, I used the gel on its own until I got to the time in cycle to start Utrogestan.

Except, don't do what I have done and forgot to start the Utrogestan on the right day (I'm 4 days late, but started last night)

How are you feeling now? I started similar 19/5 and am having bladder feeling full side effects from the Utrogestan and bit wired at night? Wonder if these side effects will go soon. X

I haven’t had those side effects but I’m getting headaches which I hate 😞hopefully they will go soon! X

I started at the end of May and it has been a rollercoaster.. but things are settling and feeling a lot better. Glad I stuck with it and looking forward to month three so I can add in testosterone. I feel a lot more stable, brain fog better. Things aren’t 100% back to normal and I’m putting on weight (or water) despite eating less and eating healthily, but I feel I can function!
