Changing from Elleste duet to Kliovance

Menomum52 · 09/05/2022 18:41

I have just been prescribed Kliovance 1 mg. I am currently on Elleste duet 1 mg. I am very wary about changing as I go on holiday at the end of the month. Should I wait till after my holiday in case I have any untoward reactions?

I've been okay on Elleste duet for over a year but I have been finding the results slightly less effective recently, hence the change in prescription.

Thanks to anyone who has any advice or experiences they care to share 🥰

Hi
ive started killovance and iam not happy on it as it doesn’t seem to be doing anything but negative effects. I switched from elleste duet 1 mg cyclincal was on it for a month but found that while taking white tabs my skin and hair were so nice and all other symptoms improved, but once I started on green I became so hormonal and seemed to be worse. Dr switched me to combined killovance 1mg/ 0.5mg as she said coz my last period was over 12 month that combined was more suited. I asked if I could get elleste duet conti but was told it’s not available. Not getting any response on killovance and don’t know if it’s the actual brand or the dose is low or what! How are you getting on with the killovance?

Normally, you would go up to 2mgs with the same type, if it exists.
Kliovance has a different progestin (MPA) but if what you are using now isn't helping, you need more estrogen, not a swap to a different progestin.

Some GPs don't seem to know much about HRT, sadly.

Menomum52 · 13/06/2022 09:09

I chickened out and didn't start the kilovance as I was scared it would ruin my holiday. I continued with the Elleste duet but I took an extra white tablet here and there which is probably really bad but I thought it would increase my estrogen which is what I thought I needed.
I am now about to try the kilovance but I am still very wary.
Should I ask for Elleste Duet but a higher dose?
I'm really unsure.
Thanks for your replies 🥰

Iam thinking of switching altogether now as someone advised that utrogestan combined with extrasolar patch/cream or spray maybe better for me as the progesterone in utrogestan is actually micronised and more bio identical to your own progesterone. Notethisterone gives me terrible pms symptoms and I look and feel Terriible on it. However the only positive for me are white tabs, so I beleive norethisterone doesn’t suit my body at all. How are you when you are on green tabs?

sam7778 · 13/06/2022 12:30

Sorry I meant estradol patch cream or spray!

Menomum52 · 14/06/2022 01:57

I am finding that I am very emotional and teary but it's more towards the end of the white tablets.
I am afraid to change though as I've heard so many horror stories about depression and anxiety on other brands of HRT. It's such a huge spectrum.
I've been doing research as you have as well but it's difficult to know what will work best and it never seems like the right time to change in case it goes wrong 🙄

@Menomum52

The first step is to try a higher dose of estrogen with the brand you already use.

I am puzzled why your GP changed you to a combined continuous type which has progestin every day when you were previously on a sequential regime.

Did they say why?

Elleste Duet is for peri- and you presumably have a monthly withdrawal bleed?
Kliovance is for women post meno. It's bleed-free but you will have progestin every day.

You can familiarise yourself with the brands and what they contain on this website. the peri brands are under the blue text link at the top of the page.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I'll look at all this and let you know how I get on.🥰

How did this work out in the end OP? I'm in an identical situation.

Menomum52 · 11/10/2024 04:16

@fleapithome
I found the Kliovance did not agree with my stomach. I changed to Everol 50mg patches and I have had no problems at all for quite a while now...I hope you find your solution. Good luck 🥰

It's been fine side effects wise so far but I know have a period on day 26. I have no idea if I'd have stopped my periods by now naturally as I was on Elleste Duet.

Not sure if this is meant to happen...

Menomum52 · 16/11/2024 04:42

I found things very unpredictable with the tablets. I have found everything much more settled with the patches. I really recommend them.😍

Thank you @Menomum52

Well it was all going well until a few days ago when I got a period and I'm sure you're not meant to bleed on this type of HRT. Plus got terrible bloating.
I'll see if this settles next month.
