I'm 44 and in the last 2.5 years I've only had 9 periods. I hadn't had a period for 8 months when I contacted my gp in early April.
After a chat about that and all my other symptoms I was prescribed Evorel 50 patches (apply one twice weekly) and Utrogestan 100 capsules (take 2 capsules daily for 12 days in the last half of the cycle, days 15-26). Fair enough.

For reasons I can't explain, I decided I'd take 1 Utrogestan every night.

All was going well, hot flashes disappeared, I was sleeping, I stopped feeling full of rage, I stopped feeling anxious, my head was clearer.

On day 29 I had a tummy ache. On day 30 I started to bleed. It's now day 32. I've still got pain and bleeding. I really haven't missed this!

So yes, I didn't follow the doctor's advice and I will contact them, but as it's Sunday and they're shut, what would you do if you were me?

Why did you take your utrogestan every night? That's why you are bleeding now.

By taking your utrogestan cyclically, you are allowing your body to give you a predictable withdrawal bleed each month.

You are peri menopause because you haven't been 12 months or longer without a period.

Maybe count today as day 1 and start taking your 200 utrogestan for 12 days ?

Yeah, I don't have any logical reasons why I did it. It was a mixture of one a day seeming easier and me not liking the highs and lows of hormonal fluctuations.

So you'd go for having two pills tonight?

You're bleeding, so that is early in the cycle.
Take a break from taking the tablets for 2 weeks, then take 2 a night for 2 weeks.
