Persistent bleeding on HRT

I wonder whether anyone else has experienced this? My perimenopause symptoms started relatively late, and after a couple of years of suffering severe hot flushes I finally started HRT 18 months ago. I started with Estradiol, but found I was bleeding for 5-6 days every couple of weeks. I was referred for a pelvic ultrasound, which was fine, and a hysteroscopy and biopsy, which were also fine. I changed to oestrogel/utrogestran, but the regular bleeding continued. I have recently switched the oestrogel to a patch. Nothing makes any difference, I continue to have a bleed every 12 to 18 days. I'm 58, and am SO SICK of bleeding for approximately one third of the time. Has anyone else had this problem? Did anyone find a solution?
I am tempted to give up HRT altogether but there's a strong family history of osteoporosis so I would ideally like to carry on if I can. I feel like the GPs in my practice have run out of ideas!

I eventually switched to a mirena coil at nearly 57 and it has sorted me out. Utrogestan just didn’t work for me.

Yes, maybe that would be worth a try...

Yes going through the exact same thing as you.
I was on gel, no bleeding I didn't absorb.
Switched to patches , absorb well, but have bled every month, with cramps. pms, the lot!

I've tried coming off HRT and my bladder hates it, even with local Oestrogen. So, essentially, I need to get Oestrogen into my body somehow.

I've finally decided to get a Mirena coil and hope to god, that it sorts this misery out once and for all.

Utrogestan does nothing for me either.

Nice to know its not just me then! Good luck with the Mirena coil!
