Itchy and sore down below, nothing makes a difference (Vagisil, etc)

Just that really. This seems to have come on suddenly over the last three months. Vulva is sore, itchy and very uncomfortable. Hurts to wipe after going to the loo. Feels really tender. Tried vagisil and Dr Wolff's Vagisan, plus savlon, etc and nothing really makes any difference.

Anyone else have this and have you found anything that works??

I had this and it was driving me mad. I use the YES products (intimate wash and water based gel) which I ordered directly from the company, no prescription required. These seem to have largely solved the problem.

@wonkygorgeous - yes, I've known it was atrophy, at least for the internal bit, for a while now, but because of the hair loss that seems to happen, haven't wanted to take anything hormonal. Will have to have another think. Wanted to try HRT again but so scared of losing my hair again.

The vaginal oestrogen pessaries are the equivalent in a whole year to three single days of HRT.
They really do change lives. Because they are so local they can't cause hair loss.

I'd try for these again if you can.

I was mistakenly taken off mine by a well intending GP as I'm on HRT. I didn't know he was wrong.

9 months later I had vaginal atrophy and vaginal bleeding after sex. Cue invasive investigations and biopsies.

I then saw my pelvic floor nurse who was horrified if been taken off them.

I'm now back on them and all my pelvic issues: incontinence, dragging sensations, bleeding after sex, have all disappeared.

I didn't realise that HRT generally is so low compared with normal female hormones that local vaginal oestrogen is also needed.

I know now.
