Am I having hot flushes?

I'm 55, until recently had regular periods but now haven't had one for 4 months. No other signs of menopause but I'm guessing that's what this is.

Today I've had three occasions of what I think might be hot flushes - but they are not like I anticipated. They have been very brief (maybe 20 seconds?) and although I've felt very hot, it isn't the sort of heat that makes me want to take my clothes off. I had one this afternoon and was wearing a jumper, but didn't feel like I needed to take my jumper off, or fan myself etc. I thought hot flushes would last minutes, not seconds, and would be more intense.

So, are these hot flushes? Or am I coming down with something?

Most likely :)
They vary hugely. Might get worse, might not.
Mine were on the hour, all day, but never more than a 'hot blush' to my face and neck and a sweaty top lip.

Mine are like that now, and sometimes last longer, but often not. They go up and down in intensity. I can usually guarantee that a hot drink will bring one on...

thanks

no repeat of them today, so who knows? I guess I just expected them to be more dramatic. I used to work with a colleague who moaned constantly about hot flushes and insisted on keeping the office window open.
