Early menopause

So a few weeks I had very light bleeding on day 18 of my cycle, which lasted for about 4 days and was only when I wiped. Unusual for me. My cycles are between 24 and 28 days long and have been since I can remember. Even after my baby a year ago, my first cycle was only 30 days long. Anyway I'm day 34 today and still no sign of my period. I did take a pregnancy test a couple of days ago and it was negative and I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant as we use condoms. Anyone had anything similar? Starting to worry now it might be early menopause

I'd not jump to that conclusion immediately. Erratic cycles can have many reasons. The medical advice is to keep a record of the dates for 6 months, then see your GP to discuss. A variation of a few days per cycle is normal- and anything from 21- 35 days is considered a normal cycle, although most of us have a variation of around 3-5 days .

I've never had a period this late. Since I had my 1st child 21 users ago they've always been between 24 and 28 days long. I'm on day 35 now and no sign, plus the blood when I wiped on day 18 for 4 days was weird

Haha its meant to be years. My oldest is 21 lol. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests. But 1st was with a 2hour hold and other one was a 1 hour hold but I thought it would show up positive if I was as I'm so late. But I'm 99% sure I'm not pregnant as we use comdoms

Hmmm personally I would take another test now your properly late. I have times when I've been 8-10 days late and not pg and not the menopause.

How old are you?

How old are you?

Princespea · 19/04/2022 19:15

I'm 40 this year. Everything I've been pregnant though it's showed up as early as 8dpo so I thought even with an hours hold it'd show but I may get a test and test again. Still don't think it's that though

We can't tell you:)

You might be in peri meno which can last for 5-10 years before your ovaries pack up for good.

You might have some other issue going on that isn't peri meno.

As before- keep a record for 6 months. If it's still like this see your GP and they will do a blood test for your FSH levels. These have to be done on days 2-5 of a cycle, and over 2 cycles.

I'm going to test again with fmu and if negative then I'll just wait it out

I’m 43 and I’m getting changes to my cycle the last 18 months or so. From what was a very regular 25/26 day cycle. It’s now anything from 28 days to 32 days. It always comes though I’ve not missed a period at all. I’m putting it down to age/ peri to be honest. No heavier or painful etc.

Princespea · 19/04/2022 20:56

What worried me was my bleeding on day 18. Never had it before

The covid vaccines have messed up cycles for some women too

Princespea · 19/04/2022 22:24

Not had one

So I've now taken 2 more pregnancy tests. 1 with a 4 hour hold, negative, and one overnight with a 6/7 hour hold and I think its negative so that's pregnancy ruled out. Even though my 4 day bleeding on day 18 was only when I wipe, I'm wondering if that was a very warlt period, although nothing like my periods

That does sound weird. In my experience the gp isny very open about menopause testing until you have a solid block of missed periods. But I did get my FSH and lh checked by asking a few times. Those might give you a idea
