Oestrogel Pump shortage alternatives?

lovelifeat40 · 14/04/2022 10:25

There is an official shortage of Oestrogel pump and I am unable to get any, my useless GP accepted my prescription request and did not prescribe the sachet alternative which is available, I only have 2 days worth of gel, is anyone facing the same issue and has found a behind the counter or natural alternative? Needless to mention that I cannot get hold of a GP not even for a phone call, and I cannot book a tel appointment unless I call on same day (and all appointments are gone by the time you can speak to a receptionist)

Have you asked a pharmacist if they can substitute Sandrena without a new prescription- or ask them to call the GP?

Also, - expect you have- called a number of pharmacies? Some one here said that they had recently got 9 bottles via Boots on an order.

The other option is Lenzetto spray or a patch like Estradot.

I’ve switched to Estrdial spray. I’m not convinced it’s as good, I can use 2 sprays in another week so am going to try that.
Ask you pharmacist to recommend an alternative, email the doctors and ask them to issue the prescription. Be quite forceful and you say you really need the prescription ASAP.

Did they say why they got 9 bottles?

They have been issuing Sandrena as a substitute at my GP practice but they now don't have any of that and they failed to note that I needed this as a repeat. I am waiting on a script from the doctor which I am now not going to get before the weekend although I know where I can source Oestrogel. I am off on holiday next week and unlikely to get it before then. What is going on is a disgrace. I don't understand how some pharmacies can have it and others don't. I was told that "oh maybe they use different suppliers from us" . I mean wtf!

Thank you all for your great suggestions, I managed to sort something out by sourcing the gel from France :-)
