Timing of HRT - insomnia

I’ve been on HRT for nearly three years and while not being a miracle cure, it has definitely made menopause more bearable. However in the last couple of months I’ve been increasingly plagued by insomnia. I get to sleep early enough but then wake up between 3 and 4 nearly every night, often boiling hot. It then takes me ages to get back to sleep - I’ve usually just drifted off when it’s time to get up and I’m exhausted.

I’ve been taking HRT (oestrogen gel and progesterone capsule) in the morning but was wondering if shifting the dose to the evening would have an effect on my sleep pattern - any experience?

Don't you find taking utrogestan during the day gives side effects like dizziness? The instructions advise taking at bedtime. This is because it's a sedative and also can cause low BP and dizziness.

I doubt shifting the timing of the estrogen will have any effects as it's more about having a constant level over 24 hours, so unless you miss a dose, it's not going to vary.

Maybe you need a higher dose of gel?
