Hi

Did anyone on hrt gain weight? I need to start hrt but I've heard so many stories of women gaining weight.

Thanks in advance xxx

No weight gain. My DSis who didn’t have HRT gained the typical middle age spread and I’m thinner than ever. I do watch what I eat, you really do need less calories as you get older, but my tummy is flatter than when I was younger and more active.

I found that after 3 months on hrt my metabolism started to change and my middle began to get a bit thinner. I wasn't craving crap as much and was sleeping better too.

Not drinking though as I can't handle it.

A Covid infection upset the balance though and I went into "reverse" (all symptoms came back.) it's been 2.5 months and I'm finally starting to feel the hrt is working again. (Ffs!)

Thank you. Strangely, I can't tolerate alcohol anymore.. Maybe due to the menopause!!

I believe that getting onto HRT and feeling better generally has allowed me to feel able to concentrate on losing weight, so have. I don't think I've lost weight as a direct "side-effect" of HRT though.

Yes I was reflecting that I had more energy when I started which definitely impacted motivation and probably energy burning.

I believe the inability to deal with alcohol can be part of it sadly! I was told it can return but I've never been one for a lot of drinking so not bothered. Do miss the odd Prosecco and Sherry/ red wine though. (Red wine also supposed to be helpful! Grrr!)

I've barely drunk alcohol in recent months anyway but have developed a sensitivity to coffee! Palpitations Shock Bloody hormones!
