HRT Post Childbirth

Hi there a bit of HRT menapause advise please … I fell pregnant after being told I was in early menapause and was about to start HRT as I was suffering badly with symptoms for the best part of 2 years prior to diagnosis. However amazingly after thinking we had no hope our Miracle baby is due very soon. My hormones have balanced and I feel the best I have felt in ages apart from pregnancy related symptoms! My big concern is what will happen after the baby is born, basically how long will I have before the awful symptoms return. I plan on breastfeeding but aware that’s not an option when taking HRT .. so am hoping for a good few months of stability. I was wondering if anyone had been in a similar position and had any advice to share - thanks in advance x

I'd double check this @Catsoncatnip1 as I've read here that women can use HRT when b feeding.

Most HRT is body-identical, meaning that the estrogen and progesterone are exactly the same as our own. So that means once you start using it, it's simply topping up your own existing levels that would be in your blood stream anyway.

Some of the info online may be based on the old types of HRT from many years ago.

Also, how come (if it were true) women can't use HRT but the can use the Pill when b feeding? Doesn't make sense. The Pill is a higher dose and synthetic, not natural hormones.

JinglingHellsBells you can only use the mini pill when breastfeeding which is progesterone only. Oestrogen affects supply.

@Catsoncatnip1 @stairway This is some expert comment on it all, and it may help.

The section of HRT and BF is half way down.

Looks as if it is possible with some types.

So sorry for the late replies! Had a really bad few days of sickness 🤦‍♀️

I will definitely have a read of that link and maybe when the baby is born speak to a menapausal expert to get some advice …

It’s just so lovely feeling normal again - I need to always be pregnant haha xx
