I started HRT for the second time, back in December. Oestrogel two pumps and daily utrogestan, night sweats and hot flushes stopped after a few weeks so that’s a plus. Migraines are way better than when I had the hrt tablets, they were really bad and one of the reasons I stopped taking hrt first time round. My moods have improved although I still get explosive for a couple of days a month, the slightest thing can set me off.
I’m due back at the doctors this week and I’m wondering if it’s possible to have something that could help keep me a bit calmer just for those days, it’s literally three days max out of a month, so I don’t want anything daily. Has anyone experienced any thing similar? I suppose I’m after a mild sedative. Is this doable? Thanks

I’ve found CBD (the spray type) to be useful for pmt in the past. I’ve found it much better on hrt though (still take a CBD in capsule form at night at the moment to try and help with clenching my jaw in the night)!

Thanks, I’ll have look, I’m a jaw clenched too Hmm

They prescribe SSRIs for people with bad PMT to be taken only for a few days /week before your period so they could probably do the same for you..?

YorkieTheRabbit · 14/03/2022 22:09

Thanks Wbeezer didn’t realise that they could just be taken occasionally, as I said, it’s only for two or three days of the month. I’m absolutely fine the rest of the time so the thought of anti depressants, hadn’t occurred to me, I’d not suffered with pmt but now this rage is bloody scary at times Shock

Could I please ask which capsules you take
  • and are you finding they help? I too am a jaw clencher.

Thank you

@YorkieTheRabbit I looked into it when I was suffering PMT, it's definitely a thing but you now what it's like with GPs, some are more up to date with their prescribing than others so I'd do some Google research before you go.

Went to the doctors today. Explained about my anger issues, I’ve been told to increase from two to three pumps of oestrogel, to see how I get on. Apparently if I was anxious I’d have been given propanol, they also give an antidepressant, can’t remember which she said, along side hrt but I don’t need that. So I’m trying three pumps and back in three months unless I’m not feeling great.
Getting the gel has been a different issue Hmm I’ve spent half an hour phoning different pharmacies to see who had it in stock, phoning the doctors and getting them to send my prescription through to the one I’ve found with stock and fingers crossed I can collect it tomorrow

I'm always on here banging on about Omega 3. I started taking it for a completely unrelated thing but noticed other changes and then subsequently discovered it's regularly recommended to help with low level anxiety and stress, insomnia etc.

I am v early perimenopause and am not on HRT or anything else at this point. But I was struggling a LOT the week before my period. I'm only on second month of doing this but I've started experimenting with upping my dose from 1000mg to 2000mg (you can take up to 2000mg routinely anyway, I just didn't bother) for the week or so before and I've been impressed so far. But not enough data to say if it's making the main difference. My sleep is also so much better that the tiredness aspect of the emotional rage is mitigated as well.

JustlookingNotbuying · 16/03/2022 17:09

oreosoreosoreos can I ask which CBD you take? I’m looking for something for my peri rages and anxiety but it’s a complete minefield out there, some are so expensive but are they more effective than the cheaper ones? Also, are they gentle on the digestive system? My tummy has been so off since hitting Perimenopause at 45.

Thanks BlingLoving I’ll have a look at omega 3,
