You know how before menopause you just go along with stuff as its easier than making a fuss?

Well I just didn't

DH & DD planning the holiday of a life time; sounds just like what they want total perfection for them

Total hell for me

So I said no thanks - ill go camping in this country with my bike; off you go and have a wonderful time without me

They will do more of the things they love and I hate; they will go to better restaurants that I can't eat at - they will have so much more fun without me and I would never have made a fuss before

It felt so freeing

Yay!! I’ve been going off on my own for ages. Bloody love it.

BlueFlavour · 13/03/2022 19:32

I hear you sister
I don’t want my oestrogen back

RandomMess · 13/03/2022 19:32

I've turned into a complete selfish cow Blush

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2022 19:33

Good for you! It's very liberating, isn't it?

QueenOfHiraeth · 13/03/2022 19:42

Caitlin Moran wrote a really funny piece a while ago about how oestrogen made women all fluffy and motherly and losing it doesn't make us ratty and irrational, it just makes us as assertive and pissed off as we should have been for the last 30 years! Grin
I love the liberation age has brought me!

ChiswickFlo · 13/03/2022 19:43

It's great isn't it???
☺️

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/03/2022 19:47

Agree.

In fact, I'm going to ask for testosterone to add to my HRT. Cos that shit looks GOOOOOOD.

I want some male entitlement. I think it'll suit me.

Solosunrise · 13/03/2022 19:51

Too right! I think I was perimenopausal for longer than I thought, because I became way more assertive about 4 years ago.
Go you, OP! I've done similar over a few extended family gatherings I simply couldn't be arsed with.
I love Caitlin Moran @QueenOfHiraeth! My favourite audio book ever was her 'More Than A Woman'.

Superbabe64 · 13/03/2022 19:53

I'm also a peri-menopausal roadcyclist... and unless cycling is included in our holidays I do not go.
And don't even try to come cycling with me on my 'solo' days Grin

Willowkins · 13/03/2022 20:00

Ju

Today this older man at church started telling me that it always reminded him of when he'd arrived in the area in 1969! I said: I'm going to have to stop you there and walked off to talk to someone else. I don't even feel bad.

KatyMac · 13/03/2022 20:20

I dont like being hot
I dont like spicey food
I have travelling by plane
I dont wanna sit on a beach (well not all day, for an hour in the morning or the evening)

I certainly don't want to go to a theme park

Leave me home- its wasted money

I also want testosterone and more oestrogen too but the GP said no

I was a mardy, assertive bitch even before my oestrogen started declining. I have to have HRT to stop me getting positively homicidal.

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 13/03/2022 20:41

Funny. DH and DD are going to New York. Pre meno I would have gone. But post I said, “Naw. You’re alright. I’ll give it a miss thanks. You two enjoy it.”

I can’t be arsed with flying, getting tired, the noise. I’m staying home on my own.

I would have facilitated the whole damn thing before and now I’m not even going. Liberating.

This. Totally this.
