Hi, thanks for listening.

I've been using the estrogen gel for 3 days, it's sandrena 1 mg gel.

I feel slightly better but still getting hit flushes both day and night. Maybe not quite so many?

How long will it take for them to go away completely?

Also meant to ask, is 1 mg gel the normal dose?

Don't trust my GP to know anything about this as they originally denied that it existed and said patches or tablets were the only thing available....

I’ve been using the gel since last May. Can’t remember how long it took but I definitely had improvement within a week I think

Also I just thought. I'm putting it on first thing like 7 am.... then I go for my run and have a shower at 9 am... is this washing it off?

I'd say you are expecting too much too soon. It takes years for hormones to fall during peri, so it's not going to be reversed in a few days. HRT is not like a pain killer, that works the moment you take/ use it.

Medical advice is give it 3 months to see the effects.

You might see some improvement in flushes etc within a couple of weeks but everyone is different.

re the showering- it ought to say on the leaflet that don't wash for an hour at least after applying.

Thanks, yes you're right.

I'm just desperate to feel back to normal....

yup just gone onto an estrogen patch and then some pills (cos its not a combi patch) I can feel its impacting - itsv low dose as immediate family members have reacted badly to whapping the dose in at 50mg. I was told review at 3 months.

RB68 · 08/03/2022 19:50

should say am in week 2

namechanged221 · 16/03/2022 17:27

Yes you’re washing some of it off

Put it on after your shower ?

I felt a difference in about a week. I’m on 1 pump a day still, sometimes do more if an feeling low mood or whatever

It’s great !

Took several weeks for my nigh sweats to stop completely, they started to reduce after two weeks. Sleep improved because they’d stopped although it’s a bit hit and miss again now, my dose has just been increased from today so I’ll see how I get on with that
