HRT prescription charge

Does anyone know if the annual one-off charge for 12 months HRT has kicked in yet? I'm sure it was supposed to be available in the new year. It would save me a fortune. If so, how do you go about getting it? Does the GP have to do anything?

It is not available yet, the talk was after April but it has all gone very quiet on that front.

By the way get a pre payment certificate if you haven't already. Under £11 a month and that will cover all prescription charges not just hrt.

Do you get the prescription pre payment if you’re prescribed 3 monthly?

By my calculation it’s 4 x £18.70, so less than £80.

The prepayment is over £100. Yes, clearly if you get other medication too it’s probably worth it. And also if a GP suddenly insists on prescribing monthly it will definitely be worth it.

When I’ve spoken to GP I’ve said I pay for prescriptions and so really dont want the monthly cost of £18.70 and they seem to have understood that.

I wonder how long it will be before any new regulations and Ori I g come in. I think it’s possible to get some refund from a prescription pre payment if several months remain unused.
