No period for 8 months and then….. advice please

Im 52, not on HRT or anything for that matter. Haven’t had a period in 8 months. Had covid in November, that didn’t affect anything, had booster late December, that didn’t seem to affect anything immediately. Went on holiday and the day before I flew spotted a little, thought it was a little odd and then on the flight, full heavy period started. I know we are all different, but what are other people’s experience of this, is this likely to be a one off or am I likely to have a few more periods. Thanks.

That's how it goes. Longer and longer gaps.

I went ten months without a period and then had one, then I went another ten months without a period, then had another and then never had another one again.

Think that’s very normal. I’ve gone 6 months without a period, then ovulated recently and am now having a very very heavy period. Speaking to friends, most went some months without, then had one or more, before stopping totally.

I'm in this boat - am 49 and have had 11 months without a period but just started bleeding yesterday. How do I know its a period rather than something alarming like cervical cancer? I have no other CC symptoms

I stopped my periods and suddenly had some bleeding but I couldn't remember when my last period had been. If its over a year between bleeding, you get sent for investigations my gp told me so off I went to hospital. The gynaecologist found nothing wrong and said it's often caused by a sudden release in hormones.

Every time I come on here looking for menopause advice it's uncanny that someone describes exactly the same problem!

I am spotting after exactly eight months since my last period. I'm actually quite disappointed but at least I'm not alone!
