Post menopausal bleeding - 2 week urgent appt

I have had bleeding for the last 2 weeks or so - was quite light but had a bigger bleed yesterday. I am 56 - no idea when my last period was because I was on the mirena coil, which I still have in, although apparently I got this put in 11 years ago so it's being doing nothing for years. I was put on HRT last year - not really sure why, it might have been my moods because I don't remember hot flushes or anything. Anyway Dr. has said she could see the bleeding and that I have a spongy womb. Thinking back I've had stomach pain on and off for a couple of months and feeling really sick in the morning. I have also been having very severe migraines - probably about 5 in the last week. I'm really worried. Anyway have similar? I've stopped the HRT with no symptoms.

Yes, similar age and definitely other sidd of menopause. I have had bleeds over the last few months. Was put on 2WW and have had 2 scans which showed an ovarian cyst, and a biopsy which was clear. Last scan showed increase in womb lining thickness over previous one, but cyst had decreased so I have another biopsy next week with a camera (hysteroscopy).

For the last week I have had quite heavy bleeding with flooding and clots - migraines have been more constant, don't know if related or not. Not had stomach ache so much as period type pains.

I don't know what to make of it and am hoping next week's investigation will give some idea.

I gather that it isn't that unusual, hopefully yours is "just one of those things".

You were 'put' on HRT.
What sort do you use?

Two issues around this

1 The Mirena can be used as the progesterone part of hrt BUT it has to be replaced every 4-5 years, to work, so one you have had for 11 years will be out of hormones.

2 If your dr assumed the Mirena was providing the progesterone part of HRT they may have given you just estrogen.

Did they?

If that's what has happened, it's why you will be bleeding as the womb lining will have grown thick.

Do you think this is what happened?

If not, it may just be a 'normal' late period and you might not yet be fully post menopause.

Was put on 2mg of Ellest Duet conti tablets a year ago - Dr. more or less talked me into it. I know I had vaginal dryness, loss of libido etc. but it might have been because of low mood. I also fractured my back last year which wasn't discovered for about 3 months so no wonder I had a low mood - I was in agony and still trying to work from my bed as I couldn't sit up. At least 8 doctors told me it was muscular. I just don't know why I would get bleeding now if I've been on HRT for a year.

Dr. knew mirena coil had been in for several years - she said to get it out within the next year.
