Just after some idea of others' experiences really.
I have been on Evorel Conti patches for around 9 months now after having had a full year without a period. It has been excellent in helping with menopause symptoms, especially the hot flushes and night sweats which I was beginning to find really debilitating.
For the first three months I had a bit of bleeding randomly but nothing too bad and GP said that was completely normal and to persevere and it should sort itself out. Sure enough, for the next 3 months or so I had no bleeding at all and was really happy that I seemed to have got a perfect solution for my menopause symptoms.
Since November however I have been getting more and more bleeding, almost constantly with very little respite. It is generally quite light, not necessarily needing sanitary protection just always there when I wipe. I then had a full blown period of fairly heavy bleeding a couple of weeks ago (tampons and towels needed) and after that a couple of days of no bleeding and yesterday started with a full blown period again.
The GP has offered Tranexamic acid to help and the possibility of switching to a tablet/gel combination although she did say that that wouldn't necessarily help but was worth trying. She has also suggested a mirena coil which I'm not keen on having as I have friends who have had poor experiences with these.
She is also insisting on investigating the source of the bleeding so am now booked in for an internal exam tomorrow and then a referral for a trans-vaginal scan next.
Is this amount of bleeding on evorel conti common or have I just been unlucky? If anyone has had this before have you managed to find a solution that still alleviates the flushes and night sweats?
Thanks in advance.
