My periods stopped a few years ago and I started with the hot sweats at night, pretty mild, and a bit of insomnia. Thought I'd got away with it lightly..

but ohhh nooo! Over the past month I've had constant UTIs and thrush, bladder pain and the clitoris from hell. Then started the raging insomnia and headaches. Then yesterday and last night I woke up with pains in my hips and legs. WTAF is that all about.

I'm starting to educate myself about menopause but I'm realising I had NO idea what would happen. Why aren't we told about this shit.

My gp has given me oestrogen cream for my UTI which is a god send, but my blood pressure is too high to prescribe HRT - I've never had high blood pressure in my life before. So need to sort that out before HRT

God I feel old and knackered right now Confused

Go to your GP… you don’t need to put up with that shit. Menopause on average lasts AT LEAST ten years.

Do check your symptoms. Lots of things get dismissed as peri symptoms that need a different treatment pathway.

Omg!! 10 years -wail- Shock

I'm monitoring my blood pressure for the next 2 weeks to see if it was a blip (it's not) so I'm having blood tests this week and they'll decide what to do after that

Oh god. The hip pain is horrific.

Is joint pain and muscle ache a common symptom too?

It was for me. Absolutely dreadful. It was this, on top of all the other symptoms, that made me ask for HRT. I was hobbling around and could barely walk. Within a week of starting HRT all the joint/bone pain and muscle aches had gone.

Try 4000iu of vit d daily for the aches and pains. It got rid of mine, and all my period pain too. In fact this has reminded me to start taking it again, cos the old hip ache is creeping back.

The hip and back pain woke me last night and I've been on paracetamol all day, I know as soon as the 4 hours is up as the pain comes back.

Good suggestion about vit c.
