Just that really, I'm 38 and have a horrible feeling Im peri. My periods over the past two years have been erratic and only really coming every 3 months. Ive gained weight, get hot flushes, insomnia and when I do have my period it tends to start quite watery/pinky. Ive had one what I would say was a proper painful red period in the past year which took me by surprise as it came one month after the previous one.
Going to see if I can chat to a gp next week but would be greatful to hear others experiences.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that. I only had hot feet at night in my late 40s. I am now getting hot flushes as well.

But you should do a search on peri-menopause. There a lots of threads where people have described their symptoms.

I didn't realise I was peri for years. Hindsight is a great thing! Looking back I started at 36, my mother and aunts started earlyish too so I should have been aware but life gets in the way ,doesn't it.

I started with joint pains and vertigo, also very dark days on and off that I just knew wasn't depression. I developed tinnitus on and off and no matter what I did, I just felt unfit. My cholesterol went up too.

This went on until I got to 45 and my cycle changed. I was always erratic but my period went to bang on every 21 days without fail. That's when I realised I was peri. Then two years ago migraines came back with a vengence. I suffered migraines in my teens and 20's, with aura, which is too high oestrogen. These were completely different and without aura, which is low oestrogen (Yes I've researched til I'm blue in the face lol) . That was the kick in the backside I needed to go do my research and get on the hrt wagon.

Are you charting your dates? It's great for looking back on and seeing what flares up and when.
I never got hot flushes btw. Well not yet anyway!

Check out Louise Newson's site Menopause Matters, you'll learn lots. I feel that knowing what's causing symptoms is half the battle.

Best of luck!Smile
