I thought my last period was July last year and I was starting to feel better, a bit like my 'old' self Smile

Early January I had another period and it is like I have started the symptoms again- anxiety, anger, tearfulness

When will it end ?Sad

I will be 50 in the Summer & seem to have had a range of symptoms they keep changing

Anyone else care to share their experiences and words of wisdom

I wondering if I should go for HRT as I have had enough Angry

Get the HRT. Life changing.

I was an anxiety ridden, angry, over emotional, hormonal mess. This improved drastically when I started HRT.

It's normal for periods to stop and start around your age.

The only way you can be sure if you are perimenopausal is to have a blood test. It does sound that way, I was the same at fifty and had my last period aged 51.5. However we are all different.

It does pass and you will feel better when it is all over. Do speak to your doctor.

I have bad bloods taken, before xmas, so no need again

It is just I felt better once they seemed to stop but I now feel all hormonal again Sad

What did your blood tests indicate, if anything?

chunkiest · 26/01/2022 21:22

They checked general health and wellbeing

No need to check hormone levels as I am over 45 and clearly peri menopausal Smile

Doesn't HRT give you regular periods again, though?

I was having horrific periods - the last one was 8 weeks long! - so I stopped my HRT. I haven't had a period since.

I felt better on HRT but I'm too scared to restart it in case those horrible periods come back.

This happened to me , when I mentioned to my gp he sent me for an internal ultrasound because it could be a sign of cancer in the uterus lining. It wasn’t very nice but it had to be done. Might be worth mentioning it just to be on safe side

Some people only experience a light bleed. What you experienced was horrendous!

Any post menopausal bleeding needs checking. Please speak to your GP as previous poster mentioned.

Thanks for replies so far

Just to clarify I had a period last July and then a gap until January this year, so I am not post menopausal (as a whole year has not gone by Wink)

I guess without periods I was feeling better and then when the periods returned so did the symptoms

Not sure if ovaries are giving it one last shot!
