I am 49 in few months have a health issue that makes me tired so knackered all the time anyway. Surrounded by idiots so stressed all the time anyway, regular as clockwork periods we'll.. Few days early 1 of them was a few months ago. Last night I woke up didn't feel hot particularly but dripping wet back n chest with sweat, changed top went back to sleep bed wasn't wet. Is this what happens? About a year ago I woke up boiling and similar but think I was just overdressed that night! So should I assume it's perimenopause what happens next. I came on yesterday and know u feel hotter then but never had this happen before could it have been a dream?

Following. I'm only 45 but have started having what I suspect are hot flushes. They sound much like yours OP

I'm almost 49 as well OP. Haven't had night sweats yet - my symptoms are irregular periods (but permanently feeling as though a period is due - bloated, stomach ache, bad mood). Also a bit of joint pain. Think it's different for everyone.

Yes, i started with hot flushes and night sweats, probably around 47. I'm 50 now and I've just started HRT (the gel you rub on) and the sweats have completely stopped. Around the same time my periods started to get more irregular. I pushed for a blood test from my GP but it was a bit inconclusive. Asking for a female GP this time was a game changer for me, she knew exactly where I as coming from.

I got night sweats, hot flushes, migraines which I never got before, dryer skin and periods went from every month to having 3 out of 4 months, then after a few months of that 2 out of 4 months. Also after 4 years of flooding every period and having to take medication periods got lighter to my huge relief. The whole process took about 4 years until no periods at all. I also put on weight and was snappy much of the time.

I'm 51 and have had horrendous periods for about the last 4-5 years, tried taking the mini pill (didn't work, just gave me constant very low level bleeding) and ended up quite anaemic. About 3 months ago they just suddenly stopped and almost immediately I started getting hot flushes. I don't mind them during the day but they keep waking me up at night and I've had enough of the wake up hot, chuck duvet off, feel too cold pull duvet back over me palaver, the broken sleep is like having a bloody baby all over again. I'm going to give it a couple of months (just to enjoy the relief of no periods really) and if it's still happening I'll go to the GP and look into HRT.

I'm also losing loads of hair, I thought it might be because of having covid back in September but talking to friends the same age we're all slowly losing our hair.

Mine started with irregular periods- I'd have a really light one, then miss one, then spectacularly heavy one (after being regular as clockwork for years)

I also had aches and pains, horrific mood swings, wanted to divorce/kill my husband, and would wake up at night baking hot (not sweats as such, I just couldn't seem to regulate my body temp)

I had a mirena coil fitted and oestrogel which has helped (periods stopped after a few months)

Dreadful insomnia when previously no problems, hair thinning a lot, irritability, rage, total lack of interest in most things, lost libido, memory problems, really uncomfortable dry eyes and vaginal dryness. Hair loss /thinning was the first sign.
