I've run out! (normally have 4 pumps daily)

Can't get Estradiol gel at my pharmacy, and about to start calling all the local pharmacies to see if they have any - anyone else having supply problems? Is there an alternative?
Ta in advance

Bump!
Same here (East Mids), I use Oestrogel - there is apparently a manufacturing issue and no pharmacy have it!

Hop243 · 12/01/2022 14:03

I tried to get oestrogel and was told there was a national shortage, sorry you are both having problems too but at least it is just not me!

I'm resurrecting this because I'm still having this issue! I've got Covid so it's even more complicated!

Last time I managed to get a supply of Estradiol from a pharmacy miles away. I feel shit with Covid and I'm the only drive in the family - so I've had to drive my son and send him into the pharmacy.

I've finally been told that there IS an alternative - Sandrena Gel - which my pharmacy had in stock. So I dutifully sat on the phone for hours and persuaded the pharmacist to prescribe it temporarily. She had to get it signed off by GP. When I phoned back the GP had somehow prescribed the 0.5mcg version which had to be ordered in - even though they had 1g in stock. I take four pumps of estradiol, and what she's prescribed me needs SIX sachets instead of 3 of what they had in stock.

I absolutely despair of them all. WTF is the issue here with withholding drugs that help people function???? WHY is there only one decent gel? why can't we get it? If men had this problem there would be hell! I am fuming and ill and I haven't had my meds for four days now so it's going to take a week to get back up to functionality.
:-( ranting, sorry

Can you ask them to prescribe 1 mcg sachets?

DejaVoodoo · 26/03/2022 08:33

I started on Oestrogel about 6 weeks ago. They only had one bottle of it at the time and still haven't been able to get it in since.
My GP has prescribed Lenzetto spray as an alternative until it reappears.

I am on Divigel which are daily individual gel estrogen that I put on alternative thighs. Shortage here also, I had to ring around 8 chemists and only one chemist had some for me, lucky got 3 boxes. It is all to do with the upsurge in women taking hrt, which is great after all the positive media news. But the downside is they need to up the production not sure where it is made, said Finland on the box. I wrote to my td and am writing to the health minister as us women should not have to be trying to source medication ourselves when we are already anxious. Try chemists that would not seem soo busy as could be lucky if you drive. Hope you find some.

I'm on my third change now due to no supply, first Oestrogel, then Sandrena, now evorel patches, and they only had enough to fulfil half my prescription for that!

LoLo2020 · 09/04/2022 20:42

I have been prescribed patches as an alternative and I'm not loving them at all :( I much prefer the gel, the patches feel wrong for me :(?

loopylindi · 09/04/2022 21:02

Different drug, same problem. Mine is a diabetic drug which I have had for about a year. Now manufacture has got any in stock!!!
