Hi does anyone know if a fsh level of 15 is normal in a 45 nearly 46 year old! Still having periods but struggling with hot flashes, night sweats/ heat. Also nausea and anxiety. Feel old!! Dr said to try anti depressant which I don't want to! I'm not depressed - yet! Also got a ferritin level of 8 currently which isn't helping - caused by heavy bleeding and flooding each month I'm guessing. Would hrt be worth trying or a Mirena maybe? Hope someone can help! Smile

Worth checking out the NICE guidelines for menopause. Blood tests are not recommended for diagnosing peri.
Also HRT is supposed to be offered not antidepressants.

Hi @bossyboo . I agree with @Whattochoosenow. Your GP sounds a bit out of touch. They should be going by your symptoms and not your blood tests at 45plus as levels can go up and down and don’t prove you aren’t peri. (And if they do bloods it should be done twice at different times of your likely cycle). With those symptoms it sounds like you are definitely peri. Offering you anti-ds is not what they are meant to be doing. I would suggest getting another appointment to raise this and ask for HRT if you would like to try it. Good luck!
