Appointment tomorrow - what should I say?

After feeling worse and worse i have finally plucked up the courage for a GP appointment.

What should I say? What should I ask for?

I'm nearly 50, still have regular ish but horrendous periods (floods, clots sorry if tmi). Night sweats just before period is due, no other times. Already have anti depressants, but anxiety is through the roof. Insomnia is awful. I never get a proper sleep. Weight gain (at least a couple of stone) over the last year with not eating anything extra.

I'm worried I'm going to be laughed out of surgery. Should I go ahead? Would anyone be able to help?

Thanks for your help.

Just say what you've said here. Explain the problems you are experiencing and say you'd like to try HRT. Ask for oestrgel and utrogestan as they are body identical and seem to be the safest.

You won't be laughed out of the surgery, at 50 and with the issues you have I think it will be very straightforward to get a prescription. Good luck.

@namechangedyetagain, totally agree with @JaniieJones. That sounds awful and you deserve help and support.

Maybe have a look at the NICE guidance that some helpful members from this group has asked mumsnet to link in Menopause talk. With symptoms like yours, a trial of HRT should be considered.
