Heavy bleeding on continuous hrt

Wondering if this is normal? I have been taking combined tablet hrt for 10 days continuous and period started but very heavy. The gynecologist told me that I would not have menstruation with this. I underwent a vaginal exam and scan for check up purposes with him and he said everything fine before he prescribed the hrt.

Just a couple of questions...

Have your periods stopped? You can't use bleed-free HRT unless they have stopped for at least 12 months (or you will get bleeding with that sort of hrt.)

Out of interest, were you already seeing a gynaecologist for something? Are you in the UK?

It's just that in the UK it's not usual to see a gynae unless you have some problem, and get referred by a GP, and also they don't usually do an internal exam and scan before prescribing HRT. (There is no need ,unless you had an existing problem.)

@JinglingHellsBells thanks, no I'm in Spain, I pay private for gynecologist, went to see him about hrt and he gave me a wellness check, i.e smear, and vaginal scan. I told him I had no period for 11 months, then a period then nothing for four months. He also did blood tests, said results suggested I was entering menopause. My progesterone and estrogen normal but FSH and LSH in the menopause range.
