Tell me about your irregular perimenopausal bleeding

I'm crapping myself as I am on the urgent referral pathway for my abnormal looking cervix with its irregular bleeds. I'm 49 so bleeding could quite easily be explained by peri menopause. I had some irregular bleeding in october. And I had a persistent mid cycle bleed in December. I wondered what others experience? I need to switch my brain from cancer to hormones! My bleeding is always light, more like spotting or pink.

Hi. I started HRT a year ago and have had a total nightmare with spotting. I can spot for the whole of the two weeks I'm not on progesterone, or on the Prog or anything inbetween. It's driving me MAD as it's causing thrush and infections but I don't know what's causing it. Too much estrogen? Too little? An imbalance between estrogen and progesterone?

An ultrasound showed a small fibroid and I'm having a GP swab and check as soon as I can get an appointment. I've had a recent clear smear - have you had this done lately?

I do think spotting can be very very normal. A massive pain up the arse but normal. dr Google will tell you to get it checked - which you should - but so far I've found no reason for mine (had it on the pill too) but will see what a look at my cervix shows up. Is yours cyclical or random?

Hi thanks for reply. I'm sorry you also have the spotting problem. Its so annoying. And I am also so programmed to take such changes seriously in case there is another underlying cause - so it always makes me anxious. I did have a negative smear in April but have had cell changes in the past. The gp freaked me out with her comments about my irregular cervix... anyway its hard to work out if its break through bleed or if its actually just a long and light period. I suppose I will have to wait and see what the colposcopy shows... I hope yours settles down soon. I've heard about several friends having issues with their hrt break through bleeds.

Sorry you have to have a colposcopy. I'm sure all will be well but its a bugger having to wait. I wonder if I will end up on that road. I 'think' a pattern is developing with mine thigh. I should write it down on a calendar.

It is so hard to know what's what with hormones, they're so mysterious. I'm went through five years of infertility and all of the mysteries that come with that and this is like it's shadowy older sibling.

Yes, I keep having flash blacks to the terrible years of miscarriages. Once I've got the fear that bleeding could signify something serious, I am so nervous with each wipe. Very like early pregnancy. I hope it settles for you. I will manage it much better if all checks carried out and nothing found...

BTW the clue app is good for documenting bleeding. I find it's helped me keep track.
