Where to place estrodot patches?

Does it make a difference?

I was putting below belly button/pant line I suppose near where ovaries are. Low down, above c section scar as per leaflet.

Then a big U.K. meno fb group said on bony part of hip for best absorption. So I started that. Then I saw another (well respected group) said bum cheek/ fatty part. Then I notice Davina does thigh...!

Does fat make a difference? Guidance seems to vary between brands.

Fairly new to this, only 6 weeks in. I'm not sure it was working as well on the hip as it was below belly.

When I had to use bigger patches (Estraderm) as there were no supplies of Estradot I found they stuck better to my bum cheek than to my hip or stomach. The patches lifted and wrinkled much more in areas other than bum cheek and that must affect absorption if the entire patch is not properly stuck down. The Estradot fits very well in that first area you mentioned where the ovaries are, and covered by pants. I favour that location simply because I go to the gym every day and am pulling tight lycra on and off so would rather the patch be somewhere it is least likely to be dislodged if I am trying to dress/undress in a hurry. Sorry, that doesn't actually answer your question, but that is because I don't know the answer.

Ah ok thanks. Did you notice any difference between the brands?

I did some more Googling and eventually found a study that bottom was apparently slightly better, however it's not clear how the brands they looked at compare to estrodot.

It's occurred to me that I use hot water bottles on my lower back often though for joint pain so that may affect things there. Will stick to tummy.

I have not noticed any specific difference between the brands save that Estradot will stick firmly for a full 4 days whereas Estraderm sometimes would but sometimes started wrinkling up after only 1 day.

I have read somewhere that heat can mess about with the oestrogen delivery so if you tend to use hot water bottles I think you are wise to put the patch somewhere that won't end up directly beneath a heat source.
