Progesterone only HRT?

Looking for advice. I was prescribed 2 pumps of gel and body identical progesterone tablet (100) instead of having a new Mirena inserted. I'm 53. I've been following this since August. My question is, do I need the oestrogen? I am feeling increasingly sick with incredibly sore breasts. This didn't happen with my Mirena only progesterone. I have never suffered from hot flushes etc. Night sweats my only real 'symptom' Doctor suggested I try HRT due to my age. Therefore, can I just take the progesterone and drop the gel? Has anyone tried this? Thanks

Could you drop to 1.5 pumps of oestrogel? Although that’s a low dose, perhaps the regular two pumps is just too high for you?

Or try another mirena? Utrogestan doesn’t work for everyone. I had to have a mirena eventually (for different reasons).

There is no such thing as progesterone-only HRT.
So , the answer is no.

You either have both, or estrogen-only if you have had a hysterectomy.

At 53 are you post menopause? (No periods for at least 12 months.)
Because taking Utrogestan daily is called continuous combined (estrogen+ progesterone daily.)

You do have the option of a cyclical/ sequential regime. That's estrogen daily and Utrogestan for 12 days per month.

There is no black and white rule that women have to take progesterone daily.

That might suit you better.

As PP says you can also drop the estrogen to 1 pump and see how that feels.

Thanks both. I’ll try reducing the gel
