How long did it take for you to notice effects of HRT?

Started two weeks ago - oestrogen patches and already had mirena.
I’m so desperate to sleep for longer than one hour bursts. The hot flashes wake me and then insomnia keeps me awake. I’m also just coming out of a very stressful personal situation, that has ended positively but nonetheless has been stressful. This must be effecting sleep too, although I can’t remember a good nights sleep in many (post DC) years.
Am I expecting too much from HRT? I am managing to increase my exercise, which has dropped off due to stress. Healthy eating is a long term difficulty related to ADHD, but I am a healthy weight.

You might need a stronger dose? I noticed my anxiety was reduced really quickly and slept better within a week or so. Sorry op. It sounds like you've lots going on. Hope someone else will come along with better advice xx

Took me at least 2, maybe 3 months for the menopause symptoms to fade out. Hang on in there.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 17/12/2021 19:08

Around a week. Needed to tweak the dose a few times during the first year but initial response came after a week.

MistandMud · 17/12/2021 19:11

About four weeks (and double the starting dose of oestrogel) for me.

Apart from a slight increase in headaches it's all a great improvement.

mrsnw · 17/12/2021 19:18

Three days! I'm on a tablet though x

Runaround50 · 26/12/2021 15:10

mrsnw

Which tablet do you take please?

mrsnw · 26/12/2021 15:40

Novofem x

Runaround50 · 26/12/2021 16:31

Thanks
Is it a combined tablet or oestrogen only? Any side effects ? What dose do you take ? X

HemanOrSheRa · 26/12/2021 16:39

About 4 days for the shocking joint pain and dreadful muscle aches and tension to go. Around 7 - 10 days to feel noticeably cooler and increased energy. The feeling of overwhelming RAGE probably took a complete cycle including period/withdrawal bleed. I take femoston 2/10. 14 days of estrogen then 14 days of estrogen+progesterone with no breaks between. I'm coming to the end of my first 3 months of HRT. Femoston was supposed to be a trial to see if HRT worked for me then discuss with GP about a more tailored approach.

mrsnw · 26/12/2021 17:05

I take 1mg a day. It's sequential hrt. 14 days oestrogen and 14 days oestrogen and progesterone combined x

FlamingGoat · 27/12/2021 09:20

I've just started on zumenon 1mg, 3 days in, and had a new mirena put in.
I'm hoping it starts soon!

mrsnw · 27/12/2021 10:12

Have you had a hysterectomy flaming goat?

FlamingGoat · 27/12/2021 16:20

Nope. Still have all my bits.

mrsnw · 27/12/2021 16:42

I looked at your hrt and it's oestrogen only. I think you should have a progesterone one too but I'm not a doctor xx

MistandMud · 27/12/2021 16:52

Mirena is progesterone, mrsnw, so that should be fine.

mrsnw · 27/12/2021 17:01

Ahh I see xx

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 02/01/2022 11:43

I’m only four days in and my mood has started to lift
