Hi all
My first time posting here. I'm 47 so not sure how far I'm into menopause or if I'm experiencing it at all. My GP said I'm too young.
So the symptoms I'm having are recurrent thrush (that takes about 2 weeks to clear even with pessary creams etc) up peeing all night, vaginally dryness, mood swings, teary sometimes and my sleep has gone to pot.
I fall asleep no problem as I'm so exhausted and at around 2am bang I'm wide awake. Up for a pee then turning and twisting the rest of the night. It's really frustrating. I usually go onto my phone (to read about menopause) until I get tired then back asleep, bang 4am I'm wide awake again, up for another pee and turn and twist again. Where even is all this pee coming from??
This is all bizarre. Ladies I need advice, help, reassurance, whatever you've got!!!

I am 55 so much older than you. Only recently started hrt though [month 2 of femoston 1/10 tablets].
My sleep has improved massively on hrt.
Also, I am calmer generally.
My symptoms included sleeplessness, anxiety, and brainfog. as well as dry moth etc. All dialled down on hrt.
Before getting hrt, gp did blood tests for vitamin deficiencies/ thyroid etc, to rule those issues out.
Go back and maybe see different gp in the practice?

[waves] hello!

Welcome to my world - sorry - it's shit...

Yes, usually one doctor in a practice is more experienced in womens health matters thankfully. It definitely sounds like menopause or peri menopause at least. See a different doctor even if you ask the receptionist and have to wait awhile.

I am mid 50’s and have been tearful, much less tolerant, had brain fog, was irrational, intolerant, really questioned my confidence and abilities, had sweats/flushings, had a few water infections, my libido wained, had the night time weeing and wakings (I was also pre-diabetic during lockdown). I am sleeping better now but back on the HRT patches which I much prefer to the tablets, as the tablets I tried gave my headaches and made my boobs too sore.

Take care OP and good luck

@Minsnug I had exactly this, waking about 2 or 3 and not being able to go back to sleep, started on HRT about 18 months ago (same age as you) and slept through the night almost immediately. No one tells you this. Oh and anxiety and palpitations weren't stress they went away too

GoodnightGrandma · 16/12/2021 06:45

You’re too young ? 🤣🤣🤣
You’re not, and those are classic peri menopause symptoms. Shame on your GP, see another one. How do you feel about HRT ?

TopTabby · 16/12/2021 06:48

It definitely sounds like peri. I was exactly the same with recurrent thrush & poor sleep. I recently started hrt & my sleep really improved. I've had to stop it for a few weeks due to headaches & dizziness & my poor sleep is back again.

I have a Dr's appointment later to discuss restarting so hopefully it'll improve again.
Agree with pp that some Drs are much better with women's health than others so ask at your practice, it seems a bit much to just say it isn't as you're definitely coming up to the prime age.

BellsaRinging · 16/12/2021 06:59

Sounds like me and I'm assuming it's peri-btw I'm your age and surely it's exactly the age for peri if average menopause age (which is 12 months after cessation of period) is 51?!?!
I am giving myself a couple more months before I go to the Dr going to adjust diet and lose some weight to see if that helps.
