Night sweats since moving to transdermal estogen

I've been taking oral HRT for some years and very happy with it but asked to change over to a no bleed version 6 weeks ago. I've been prescribed the "gold standard" transdermal gel and a progesterone tablet and the night sweats have returned. Every morning I wake up drenched. This happened years ago when I had an implant for contraception. It makes me think it's the delivery method that's causing the problem.

I'm going to ask to go back to oral HRT, but wanted to know if transdermal delivery is likely to be the cause?

What dose are you doing?

Normally transdermal is absorbed better.

2 pumps is starting dose and gives just over 1mgs estrogen. You can use 3 or 4.

Where are you applying it and how? It should be mid inner thigh and rubbed in lightly then allowed to dry. You can also use it on upper outer arms so 1 pump could go onto 2 thighs, and 1 pump onto 2 arms.

The other thing is the Utrogestan. Are you taking it orally? At night?

I am using Sandrena 1mg sachets, but I have been putting it on my outer thigh and perhaps not letting it dry (too cold) properly. Applying in the morning.

I take oral progesterone at night (cant remember the name but its a gel capsule).

I did not have a sweat last night but it is the first time in 6 weeks.
