Anyone using Androfeme cream?

How do you find measuring out the dose? I’ve just started on it two days ago and using the syringe supplied is really fiddly. It also seems impossible to get all the cream out of the syringe (and I have to try and wash it out afterwards which is also rubbish as it kind of sticks inside) so some gets wasted each day. Given it cost me £116.75 (£30 prescribing fee and £86.75 for the cream with p&p) I’m loathe to waste a drop! Any tips?

I am on it. I started with the syringe but now just squeeze a pea size blob out and guesstimate 0.5ml.

Thank you for replying. Did your tube last the 100 days using it that way? If so I might try doing the same.

Yes, it feels like its not going to but there is still lots in when it seems almost empty.
My doctor said most of her patients find the syringe too messy and she advised to just squeeze out a blob.
I did use the syringe a few times just to get used to the amount at first though.

I don’t use the syringe. It does last a surprisingly long time.

Puppylucky · 01/12/2021 18:57

Useful thank you! I persevered with the syringe and it got better as the tube emptied but still feels wasteful. One thing I would say is that 0.5ml is apparently a bit more than a pea though - more like an edame bean!

PuddingParty · 09/12/2021 22:11

Thanks for the replies. I’ve ditched the syringe and now just squeeze it out the tube onto my finger - I’ve increased the measure from pea size to edame bean size too.

I’ve now used it for 13 days and today have the most horrendous headache. Hoping it’s not linked. Even painkillers can’t shift it.

Any experiences?

I had femoston and awful headaches. I've recently switched to Estradiol Oestrogel and pill and only had beaches for a couple of days.
My mood swings and anxiety are as bad as ever!

Thethingswedoforlove · 09/12/2021 22:33

I also use it and have now basically worked out how much i Shd be using. But I use the syringe every now and then just to be sure …: it makes so much difference to me I can’t believe it

PuddingParty · 10/12/2021 22:47

Thankfully the horrendous headache has gone today. I’m feeling a bit snuffly tonight and my DS has a cold so maybe it was the just start of a cold.
Would be gutted if it were the testosterone as I feel good so far and I really want to stay on it for 6 months before making a judgement.

@Thethingswedoforlove that’s a good idea to use the syringe every now and again. I will do that. How long have you been on it and how long did it take to make you feel better?

I have been on it for 2.5 yrs now. Prob took a couple of months to feel confident I felt better. But I changed from artificial progesterone to ugesterone which helped too at the same time.

@PuddingParty I really hope your headaches go soon

I'm only three days into Androfeme, so I'm still using the syringe. This is how I've been cleaning it. It's still a faff, but much less than trying to clean it out with water. It also means that I use what's left in the syringe because it comes out on the pipe cleaner.

I just draw up water into the syringe and squirt it out a few times, then leave the syringe and plunger separately on a tissue to dry.
It measures out the 0.5ml daily dose fine for around the 100 day life of the tube.

TheOGCCL · 12/08/2022 21:02

I know this is an old thread but in case anyone else is searching, there’s definitely no need to use the syringe, just squeeze out a broad bean blob and apply. The aim is to get a steady stream being absorbed, if it’s slightly more one day, and slightly less the next it all evens out.
