GP appointment to discuss HRT

So after a few years of being in peri - I think I really need 'proper' HRT.

I've been using Vagifem for about three years now and that's solved that issue.

GP prescribed me Fluoexitine a year or so ago to help with hot flushes and rage. Kind of helped but I know it's not in the NICE guidelines, and my hot flushes are getting worse/more frequent now.

(The reason for not going straight to conventional HRT is that I have to take anticoagulants for a blood clotting disorder - so GP said to try this first)

So I have been reading up on various options for HRT. There are so many combinations. I wanted to have a bit of knowledge in advance so I can fight my corner if I have to.

I'm almost 54, I still have (very irregular) periods, hot flushes often, no actual rage now- the opposite, in fact - very little emotion at all :

Any advice on what I should expect? It's a different GP this time so I may get different options anyway.

There is no increased risk of clot with transdermal oestrogen, so a gel or a patch would be my go to

Thanks - so patch or gel would be fine.

I think I'm just concerned that I'm going to get fobbed off. The blood clotting thing is their main concern but if I'm taking anti coagulants anyway surely that prevents anything happening.

I was melting this morning whilst out shopping so I definitely need to sort out this internal combustion engine of mine

I also have a blood clotting disorder and am peri menopausal. I saw a menopause specialist earlier this year and she confirmed that HRT patches and gel are very safe to use. I have been using HRT patches for 8 months now and hot flushes, night sweats and anxiety have almost completely gone.

Thanks Bellenoir - sounds like a good result
