Back to square one with progesterone

Hi. I'm almost 51 and after great advice on here I started Elleste duet 1mg 2 weeks ago. So 2 weeks of oestrogen only then 2 weeks of oestrogen plus progesterone.
Sounds dramatic but it has been literally life changing. I am now sleeping better, my bladder issues have disappeared, my hot flushes have gone, I am more lively, my mood has lifted massively, much less anxious and much more able to see the funny side of things and to be light hearted. No feeling of dread on waking every morning and no weepiness.
Started on the oestrogen with progesterone 2 days ago. I now feel tired, irritable, anxious and weepy. I am so sad about it I had just seen a light at the end of the tunnel. I was just starting to live again.

How much of this is normal and could it improve? Does anyone have experience of this? Have I got to just put up with it?

TIA

It's normal to fee like that on the progestin phase but give it time. It might get better and if not there are other types to try.

Thanks JinglingHellsBells I'll hang in there a bit then.

Just had a horrible hot flush. They had disappeared. Does the progesterone somehow cancel out the oestrogens good work?Hmm

What are the other types to try?
wildthingsinthenight · 16/11/2021 11:44

Think there are pessaries to try. Or separate tablets rather than together with oestrogen.
I felt shocking yesterday so going to move to taking it at night to see if this helps.
Stomach cramps are awful this morning Confused

I’m on a different drug regime and use the gel. I increase the amount of gel I use during the progesterone phase as I get a bit flashy and irritable without the increase.

JinglingHellsBells · 16/11/2021 13:24

@MammaLovesLeopard
Other types

The type in the pill type- Femoston
The Mirena coil
Norethisterone (in tablets and patches)
MPS- in Kliofem (tablets)

There are progesterone patches????!

Can you use these on the cyclical (2 weeks on 2 weeks off) method?

Kikkomam · 16/11/2021 22:37

I take Novofem - same as the one you take. I feel slightly grumpy just as I get to the end of the white pills (noristherone and oestrogen) and I have bit of a dodgy tummy a few days in, but apart from that I'm really happy on it. It took me a couple of months to completely stop the hot flushes.

You are still taking oestrogen with the progesterone
wildthingsinthenight · 21/11/2021 03:16

Kikkoman yes I know I meant when you take progesterone part as well

I seem to have solved my problems by
A ..giving my body time to get used to things and
B...taking the tablets at night just before bed instead of in the morning.

Hope this might help others xx

I am feeling the same OP, 5 weeks in on the tablets. 2 weeks of fantastic relief, but about 5 days in to the combined phase, ugh.

Also then the 'period' from hell 5 days into the estrogen only phase, like being in my twenties again, just awful. I have everything crossed it gets better!

Sorry to hear this! I am still getting stomach issues but my mood has improved somewhat. Feeling v queasy. Hope this gets better. Taking it at night definitely helps. I am having my first HRT "period" now and it isn't too bad. Looking forward to my next oestrogen phase!

Hope things settle down for you xx

Glad it's settled. I definitely feel a lot better when I take mine in the morning!
