Switching from sequi to gel and tablets.

I had a review with GP for sequi and decided to switch me to gel and tablets. I was having 2 good weeks and 2 meh weeks. Headaches and hot flushes were back and I was getting a rash where the patches were.
GP thinks Im sensitive to progesterone so has prescribed Oestrogel and Utrogestan.

So im due to start today but Im a bit confused about what happens when.

I think I take the gel every day of the month and then take tablets on day 15-30. Is that right? I went to see the GP a month ago so my Brian fog is making me doubt myself. I won’t get an appointment with the Gp for at least a week, and I don’t want to go cold turkey.

Also how much gel? I can’t work out how many pumps is the same as the patch. I’ve seen some posters say they have up to 4 pumps, how do you know when you need to top up and when you’re having too much.

Hey there,

I’ve just started this yesterday swapping from the patches - but I’m still on my first month of any HRT. I’m taking the progesterone 15-30 like you said. I’d just start from wherever you are so I took the last patch off yesterday morning (day 10) and then did one pump of gel. I think if you’re on the 50 patches that’s maybe 2 pumps? But I’m starting with one.

They don’t explain do they 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks. So I took the last patch off this morning so I would be starting a new box today if I was staying on them.

It’s the 50 and I guessed at 2 pumps.

The box just says ‘as directed’ but apart from start the Utrogeston in day 15 she didn’t really say anything else.

Also starting Vagifem which is on a different schedule.
I love the simplicity of the patches, slap it in twice a week but not the return of the flushes.

I’m sure I’ll soon get into the swing of it.
Good luck with yours.

@Redcrayons You take utrogestan for 12 days, so not days 15-30, that's too long.

kos88 · 01/11/2021 10:11

Thank you! My utrogestan pack instruction is to take for 14 days per month. Good luck too Redcrayons

Thank you both. I’ll have another check of the instructions, as I’ve misunderstood somewhere.

@kos88 The leaflet IN THE BOX actually says take for 12 days.

Many GPs say 14 days because that's what is usual for the packs of tablets where half the tablets are 2 hormones. I'm afraid they are incorrect. The pack instructions are very clear.

Read the massive leaflet in the box. It's on the 2nd side of it where it says 'Take for 12 days...starting on day 15...'
