Estrogel - when does it kick in?

Morning all,

GP prescribed HRT last week and I began on the Estrogel on Wednesday morning. I'm going to be taking Utrogestan as well but for ease of remembering that's 1-12th of the month, so begin on 1st November.

What are people's experiences of how long it takes to feel a difference? i feel a tad perkier but I think that's possibly psychosomatic because I've been feeling so weary and brain-foggish that the thought of feeling more like my old self is wonderful.

When did you feel the benefits? Thanks

Was on that combination for 3 weeks NO effects what so ever, changed to patches 3 days ago and hot flushes stopped within 24 hours, I'm almost symptom free

I found my hot flushes disappeared after about a week to 10 days from starting Estrogel. Wonderful stuff!

Well, a week is a very short time- or do you mean 2 days since Weds this week?

HRT needs to build up in your system. It's not an instant response.

You need to allow at least a couple of weeks to a month and it all depends on how low your own levels were to start with.

I started on Wednesday this week - so 4 days now.

I wasn't expecting an instant difference, just interested in how soon people felt a difference beyond what I'm sure in my case is an initial psychological response.

I started oestrogel Tuesday, chatting to a colleague in can take a couple of weeks to start making a difference. It feels good to be doing something!

Still waiting .......

Doesn’t it just! Pop back and update if/when you feel any difference please?

When I switched to the combined patches symptoms reduced within 24 hours

That's interesting. I'm seeing my GP again in about 4 weeks so hopefully by then I'll feel a difference. If not I'll discuss swapping to the patches perhaps.

Honestly, I felt that i felt a significant difference after about 3 months. I've got a couple of symptoms still lingering (palpitations and insomnia) so debating whether to speak to the GP about adding another pump.

I do feel so much better though - the anxiety over pointless things has very much abated and the hot flushes have disappeared.

Hope you start to see a difference soon.

I'm four weeks into HRT gel and continuous progesterone. Hot flushes have just calmed down this last couple of days. Mood swings still not great. Hoping it starts to kick in before Christmas!
