But it's just a lubricating/moisturiser surely it wouldn't have such an extreme effect?

Did your gp examine you or ask you to drop off a urine sample to check it isn't something else?

Noos71 · 20/10/2021 16:42

She examined me and straight away she saw how bad I was because I was bad internally and externally were it leaked out it was like having a bad water infection with bad thrush so now I’m going on HRT because if I can’t treat the dryness without having a reaction then I rather get rid of the dryness.

Just had a look at the ingredients and I think the mineral oil should have done it for me.

bungabungaboo · 20/10/2021 19:19

Try Vagifem or ovestin as this treats the source internally and externally

You may take hrt too

Noos71 · 20/10/2021 19:52

I used vagisan and it made flare up because it’s got alcohol in the ingredients just like putting salt in a raw saw. So now I’m just very wary of using any moisturiser.

Op, you need vagifem and ovestin. The moisturisers didn't work for me either. The sooner you start the better as it can take time to get it under control. You should have no problem getting these from your Gp with your age.

JinglingHellsBells · 20/10/2021 22:10

@Noos71 vagisan is not the same as Vagifem

Vagifem is estrogen. The other one is an over the counter product to counteract itching and dryness.

Noos71 · 29/10/2021 12:00

Just been to doctors again I’ve still got the bad reaction and been told to throw away all the moisturisers and she’s given me estrogen cream to use every day for 4 weeks and sign off for another week and my pelvis scan came today it’s the end of the month 👍

It must be extremely debilitating to require 3 weeks off work, is she sure there isn't something else going on like a severe uti?

Noos71 · 29/10/2021 13:05

No it’s definitely not uti my bladder is fine it’s the moisturisers that bad it worse because I thought it was the dryness when I think it’s vargina atrophy which is very similar which can only be treated with oestrogen.

Poor you OP this sounds excruciating.
Good luck with the oestrogen cream Flowers

Tootsey11 · 30/10/2021 17:03

Are you sure it's not Ls. I could barely walk for the best part of the year, nothing helped with the pain. Was put on dermovate and few weeks in much improved.

Noos71 · 05/11/2021 18:46

The first person I saw was a nurse practitioner and she asked a doctor what I could use internally and she told me to buy canesten I was shocked 😮 and said that will dry me even more and put me in pain she said it’s not just for thrush it will be ok, we’ll 8 that night I was dancing and on edge it did what I said it would I had you choice to get in the bath and what I could put but it did get rid of the bad pain but I was back to the begging of being very dry and couldn’t use anything I couldn’t even go to the doctors to get the certificate for work so now I’m just hoping that the scan will ok for me togo on HRT.

The doctor has given me one tube of estriol cream and told me to use it everyday for 4 weeks of which I’ve been doing but I can’t see it lasting that long I’ve used for just over a week and already half way through it so I was wondering if anyone else has used it and had the same issue.

Just put a prescription request in, it'll be on your repeats.
