What counts as a period?

Wise women I'm trying to work out if what I'm experiencing at the moment counts as a period. I'm 55 and been on HRT for 3 years. Currently on evorel conti and can't remember the last time I had a 'proper' period, probably last year some time. But for the last 6 months at least I've been getting very light bleeding or just spotting every 2 or 3 weeks. I'm rubbish at noting my cycles but does this count as a period or am I officially menopausal now? How heavy does a bleed need to be to count as a period? Thanks

My guess is any bleed - but really I’m bumping for you Flowers.

@nothernexposure Please see your GP.

If you are using continuous HRT (the no bleed sort) then the medical advice is any bleeding after the first 6 months on it must be reported and investigated.

No one is put on continuous HRT anyway unless they have not had a period for at least a year.

When your dr gave you Evorel Conti, did they not ask where you were with your periods?

You need to make an appt and they will refer you for a scan.
