Unexpected bleeding

First post in this group and looking for a little advice and maybe a handhold. I'm 44, on the combined pill and have had a small amount of bleeding and abdominal pain in the last 24 hours. I've always been as regular as clockwork on the pill, I bled early last month but that was only because I forgot to take it for a couple of days. I'm about halfway through the pack of 21 so I'm a bit worried. Is this one of the joyful first menopause signs? Periods have been erratic in terms of being heavy one month and light the next but this is the first unexplained bleeding. I've also had what I think are night sweats now and again, although not often. Thanks in advance

Guess you’ll know that no periods for 12 months is the one thing Drs use to say yes your menopausal, but many of us go through perimenopause, that is still have periods regular or irregular but flow does happen and hot flushes, forgetfulness, crap sleep. You could be peri menopausal

It's bleeding after years without bleeding that is meant to trigger alarm. You're still having periods so what you describe is just between regular bleeds. Not a big alarm moment. Yes, part of the adventure!

Does the pill not control the bleeding though even if you're perimenopausal? I'm not on pill but think I'm perimenopausal as I'm getting a very heavy period every 3 weeks now for past 3 periods. It's a bit discouraging (I thought it was supposed to ease off not get worse!).

That's what I was wondering. I've ordered one of the pee stick tests off Amazon that's supposed to tell you whether you're peri menopausal. Oh the joys.

Ooh didn't know you could get a stick!

That used to happen to me sometimes when on the combined pill, started about your age, although I was subsequently diagnosed with fibroids so they may have been the cause as, as you say, the pill controls hormones and thus bleeding.

I've been off the pill a year now and definitely perimenopausal. My periods have gone crazy, mostly very heavy, although sometimes weirdly light and usually less than 3 weeks apart. In fact, I looked at your post as I just finished a (light) period 3 days ago and today I appear to be bleeding again. Frustrating Confused
