Newson clinic

Anyone else a bit disappointed with the support they are receiving from the Newson clinic? Having waited 3 months for my first consultation, I was initially impressed by the supportive attitude of the nurse I spoke to. However my recent follow-up call was very disappointing. She wasn't particularly interested in my experience, particularly the negative impact that the Utrogestan tablets were having on my mood. I had to do my own research into taking it vaginally and her advice on this was very limited. She also recommended testosterone cream, which I am happy to try as I'm still suffering from fatigue and low mood, but I have since realised she gave me the wrong advice about blood testing and monitoring - specifically she didn't tell me that it's really important to check my levels via a blood test in the next few weeks, to ensure the testosterone levels are not too high. My next follow up appointment with her is not for 6 months "to give the testosterone time to work" which again is not in line with advice . I'm not sure if I'm expecting too much but it just feels a bit rubbish. Is it just me?

I genuinely do not understand why she pushed 4 pumps for someone your age. I started on half a pump , as I said before.

I know they do need to check testosterone.

The way that other private drs work is if they see someone 'remotely' they send the necessary request form to their patients , so they can make an appt somewhere local to them, to have the tests (whatever they may be.)

There are LOADS of private clinics in London where you could have a blood test for testosterone and all the Newson clinic needs is to send you a request form, you make the appt and have the test, then the results go back to them.

The British Menopause Society has a list of specialists on their website- it's geographical and there are a few in London (mainly Harley St area.) If you are not happy with your treatment, take your money somewhere else :)

Yes. Ive been pushed for pillar to post by 4 nurses and a doctor. Ive had no responses to my requests for call backs. At no point has anyone at the clinic ever mentioned that I should be increasing my progesterone as my oestrogen was, at one point put up to 250mg!!! WTF. Now I'm sitting here shitting ,self as my GP wasn't happy with what Ive experiences and has sent me for a scan for which I now need a biopsy as it seem the progesterone wasn't enough to protect my womb. I will be contacting Newson and in no uncertain terms depending a review and an explanation as to how they've left me stranded. Would not recommend them at all.

I’m a bit similar. I’m getting private treatment but not with Newsome. Latest hormone tests show I’m not absorbing progesterone well from my cream and need a higher dose which I can only get in tablet form. I’m feeling pretty rubbish at the moment which I think are symptoms of too high oestrogen. I’m on the fence as to whether it’s worth it with HRT and definitely what benefits I’m getting from private treatment.

@Fififizz Im sorry to hear this. I tried really hard with the GP but was getting nowhere so saved hard and waited for 6 months to get to the clinic. I feel like they have taken my money and left me in the lurch. Im also questioning whereto HRT has been worth the journey I'm currently on. Ironically Newson contacted me to tell me my oestrogen was through the roof after taking the dose they prescribed but at ni point did they tell me that I would need a scan or that I should be careful with my low progesterone. These clinics just seem to be in it for the money at the moment. Ive had more joy recently from a lovely young doctor at my surgery that is going through her training. I'm just so gutted that ive paid so much money to Newson and to end up in this situation 😳.
